My goal is to “fill my own cup” through choosing joy and “sharing the overflow” with those around me.

I started coaching my daughter’s soccer team with big expectations. I thought we were going to dominate.

We did not.

This video is about what happened when I realized I wasn’t the main character in the story — and how embracing a supporting role changed the experience for everyone involved (even if it didn’t help our win-loss record).

It’s a funny, honest reflection on leadership, expectations, and what really matters when you’re responsible for people — especially little ones. We didn’t win many games, but we had fun and made memories, and that turned out to be the real victory.

I once fell asleep on the job… literally.

This experience taught me an invaluable lesson about leadership. Before we address those we lead as team members, we must first make space for them as humans.

Leadership is at the intersection of empathy and accountability.

We all love external validation. Compliments, praise, likes — it’s fast and it works… for a moment.

But it’s also transactional. Like paying fifty cents for water.

In this talk, I use the metaphor of digging a well to explain the difference between chasing validation and building something deeper. Internal validation takes longer and requires more effort, but once it’s there, it lasts.
